Friends/Family,
Oh Boy! Do I have a story for you! I finally had my first Dr's appointment since my school insurance ran out! Well, it's only at a clinic...which was a nice building, but the patrons certainly reminded me where I was. I get in and talk to the Dr (who was just fine) and she tells me that there are amazing drugs that will do wonders for my GERD, but my Govt. Insurance won't pay for any of them (and most at $120 a month). So she gave me a perscription of over-the-counter stregnth Prilosec (which I already take and it doesn't work) and along with Zantac. Maybe taking that much medication each morning will do something. Hopefully it doesn't kill me! Another thing that she suggested, which I find really interesting, is to take Yoga. If I'm managing my stress better, I'll have less acid in my system. She also suggested Accupuncture, but couldn't prescribe it! She's even going to see if they will allow me to see a Gastrointronologist! Hooray!

But the best part of the story was when I went downstairs to get blood drawn to see if my stomach issues are from bacteria or if I'm anemic. I got a lady nurse who couldn't speak English (which most people there couldn't) and wore more make up than a Trannie on El Cajon Blvd.

So she goes to get the needle for my veins and I joked that I have really small veins. She got mad and told me that I should have said that when I came in because now she has to get a smaller needle. Um...I did tell her when I got in. Next time, try looking at the person's veins before you get the needle. Maybe?

That should have been a red flag & I should have run out of the office right then. But I stayed like a good little patient to give them my precious blood. *Sidebar: I usually can't look when needles are stuck in my arm, so it's no suprise that I was a little squimish when this shady "lady" (?) was about to stab me. Then I feel it: a sharp digging sensation of the needle as it searches for my vein. I know that my veins are a little hard to find, but most of the Nurses who have trouble can find it within a few seconds. Seconds passed, then minutes. I'm fighting back screams of terror as I telepathicly plead with JR (who was standing outside the door) to save me.

"Your bein keep movin!" mumbles the nurse in a thick Spanglish accent. That's when I saw the look of horror in JR's eyes. I was stuck with this Frankenstein Nurse digging in my veins for what seemed like hours. Then she calls out something in Spanish and this tender looking older make nurse with white hair comes in, answers her in Spanish and pulls the lodged needle out of my arm and gently requests my other arm to extract the blood sample. With suprising ease, he obtains 2 viles of blood from my numb arms.

Without looking at the horribly incompitent "nurse", I briskly ran to the car...JR trailing steps behind me.

Damn. I love Government Health Care.

Mom, I swear I'M NOT RACIST!

So, I was working as a temp at a local car dealership today. I'd worked there a few times before, so I knew most of the salesmen I was working with. A good deal of them are my age (mid 20's) or act like it.

I hadn't worked at the dealership in a few weeks, so one of my sales buddies, Ben, came up to say hi to me. Just so you know, Ben us a mid to late 20 year old, vivacious guy who happens to be Mexican and has a very dark complexion. He's also been out in the sun all summer selling cars. Well, today, he was wearing a light khaki shirt with a brown patterned tie and brown pants. I thought it was cute how well he coordinated his outfit, so I said, "Ben! You're BROWN today!!"
I tried to put on the breaks as the words were leaving my lips, but I wasn't fast enough to catch my runaway tongue.

Ben looks down at his outfit, then at his hand and says, "I'm always brown."
"No no! That's not what I meant!" I tried to redeem my accidentally questionably racist remark when Ben pulls over a Finance Manager, Mo (short for Mohammad, who is African American and Muslim, I think) to retell the story, in hopes of further humiliation.

"At least she didn't tell me I was BLACK today," quipped Mo over his shoulder as he walked on to his destination.

I was quite mortified for the rest of the day, and Ben made sure I didn't forget it. Which actually made me paranoid for the rest of the day. You see, there was a new African American sales man that needed to write something with a black pen at my desk. The first time he did it, he left his pen and I put it in my desk so no one would take it. When he came back, I pulled out the black pen from my pile of red ones and said, "Oh, you probably want the BLACK one." OH no! Would he think I thought he only wanted to write in black because he was black? No, Adriane. You're fine. It's ok. He won't notice. Just keep quiet.
A second later, I was joking about how I almost stole his black pen because people kept stealing my black pens, so all I had left was red ones. Before I knew it, I had the urge to blurt out, "want one of these COLORED ones?" Luckily my brain and social awareness caught up w/ my runaway tongue. I couldn't look him in the eye for the rest of the day. Damn you Ben!

I have fantastic stories about "the boys" for you all! (For those of you who don't know who the boys are, they are my favorite and only nephews at the moment. I'm one of those obsessive, annoying Aunties if you must know. In fact, my nick name with them is ATA - Adriane the Annoyer!)

So I spoke with the boys today...a rare occasion. I spoke w/ them a long time too! It's only because my new phone has a feature that you can distort your voice. You have the choice of a kids, munchkin, man, woman, toneless or hoarse voice. It's actually quite creepy. But the boys liked it...so much so that they stayed on the phone for a half an hour! Woah!

When I was talking to the middle boy, Big Head Bryant, he randomly stopped the conversation and said, "Brock [his oldest sibling] cut off his pinky toe!" What?! Then Brock yelled in the background that he only cut off the toenail! Once again, Brock was running around without shoes and snagged one of his toe nails. I'm sure it's nothing. It was just interesting to hear the exhaserbation in Bryant's account.

Then I spoke with the youngest Ferral Boy, Connor. He was enthrawled with the crazy voices coming from my phone but abbruptly told me to talk normal. Then we were talking about visiting his grandparents (who are living in Australia at the moment) and I told him that we were going to see them in a few Christmases in Hawaii. I explained that Hawaii was a place where we could swim in warm water, and girls wore skirts made out of grass and coconuts on their shirts. "Tell Baca (his Grandpa) to bring a ladder." Connor interrupted. "Why?" asked I. "To get the coconuts from the trees," was his matter of fact reply.

Later on JR started to talk to Connor. He told him that Baca and Grandma live with Kangaroos and that you can teach them to box. I think he scarred the boy because he asked us to tell the Kangaroos not to hurt Baca.

Then we were talking about my sister Meridth and how she's going to have a baby. He asked how big the baby was in her tummy. I told him the size of a watermellon. Then I told him that Uschi (said watermellon fetus) was going to be born on the same month as his birthday. "How long is that?" asked Connor. "About 4 months away," I told him. "Wa hooo! Yess!!!" he cried in glee.

"Do you want to know what I want for my birthday?" For 5-10 minutes, he listed all the hot American toys. Most of which I couldn't understand due to his cute little speech impetiment. But he did tell me he wanted a sword.

Aaaah the boys. I'm sure that's not interesting to anyone but me. But at least I've got my ATA fix for the moment.

You think your family is akward

Oh my heavens, I thought my family was a little...OFF. I can rest easy: we are quite normal compared to some.

The Mac-Munson Update

So it's been quite a few months since JR or I have blogged (JR or I meaning just me). I guess you're supposed to use these blogs to keep readers up to date on the subjects of such blogs. Apparently I'm not doing such a great job at it.

To make up for it, I'll make a quick recap on the events of the last 5 months:
First let's start w/ JR:
1. He went to school at SDSU and was crazy busy with a full load of classes, work at his shady but steady news station, and directing/producing & filming various student films.
2. JR's most involved project was a short film called Giant Robot...which was exactly that: a Giant Robot that tries to take over the city. It was amazing. Hokey, but amazing!
3. School is now over for our dear boy, and his wifey will be much less cranky. Safe haven for us all.
4. JR's getting closer and closer to graduation, so he's starting to look for grown up work (be it in film or otherwise).

Now here's the Adri update:
1. Adri was working with SDSU's Athletics Media Relations Department for a few months while a friend's wife decided to have a baby. It was interesting (mainly because she had very little knowledge about the Athletics they so focused on).
2. In that job, she helped facilitate the 2009 Women's Basketball NCAA Tournament (where SDSU came in 2nd place in the Mt. West Confrence).
3. While working a 40-60 hour work week, she was also in a play at SDSU called ANIMAL FARM. Based on the Orwell novel we've all read in High School, she played the part of Old Major- the pig, Mollie- the mare, A Chicken that gets shot in the back of the head, a Pidgeon who sings far too loudly and a snooty English Farmer that gets piss drunk by the end of the show. Stupendous!
4. She is now one of the large #'s of over qualified unemployed College Grads doing temp work to keep herself from going crazy while hunting for the ever illusive full time job.

JR & ADRIANE (The Unit)
1. We got married and are still married. (We're nto going Hollywood yet)

2.They are still living in a sardine can a few miles away from a freeway, near some grass, a few buildings and a tree.
3. Adri's parents moved to Australia and are loving the Dingos and Kangaroos in their backyard. But not the Koalas or their sharp fangs. Nasty buggars, they are.
4. JR & A are currently honing their super powers and plan on trying them out on their neighbors that ghetto blast rap music at 12 in the am. (Not even the good rap either...Boo.)

Where will htey be in 6 months? No one knows. But we do know this: there will be much mayhem and distruction in the path of the Munsons as they lay wake to thier final destination.

Good night, meint lieptchuns. Have a pleasant tomorrow.
